Scottish Rite Ph.D. Fellowship Program:

Annually, the Scottish Rite Ph.D. fellowship program selects practicing Iowa educational administrators as recipients of its Ph.D. fellowship. The program is designed to select and promote qualified candidates who will make a positive impact on public school administration in Iowa.

The program was founded in 1983. The first fellow was named in 1984. Awards are restricted to Iowa Universities that grant a Doctorate in Educational Administration. Fellows are expected to serve the public schools in an administrative capacity.

Each year an announcement is printed in the School Administrators of Iowa newsletter and letters are sent to the four institutions requesting nominations. Selections reflect potential success as a school administrator in Iowa's schools. Each selection in his or her own right is making an outstanding contribution to the quality of education in Iowa's public schools.

The selection committee is made up of representatives of the five Iowa Valleys.

The Iowa Scottish Rite Foundation has invested over $300,000 in this program. That investment represents only about 10% of the cost of attaining a Ph.D. degree. We are proud of these people. They represent a sound investment of the Foundation's philanthropic resources. This program is a major support of the public schools by providing leaders the assistance they need to complete their Doctorate. It is a worthy investment in Iowa’s educational future.
