Masonic Author S. Brent Morris visits the Des Moines Valley

S. Brent Morris, Director of Membership Development for the Supreme Council 33°, Southern Jurisdiction, visited the Des Moines Valley April 7 & 8, 2006 as part of the University of Freemasonry series. He presented on Masonic history and also enjoyed a presentation by Des Moines Valley members on Masonic Music. The weekend wrapped up with steak dinner in honor of Brother Morris and the Spring 2006 Reunion Class.

What We Are:

The Scottish Rite is voluntary grouping of men who have the conscious decision to make themselves better. Drawn from Masonic traditions and lodges in Iowa's communities, we endeavor to work together to improving ourselves and our community.

What We Do:

Scottish Rite members hold regular Reunions, business meetings, throughout the year. The Scottish Rite bodies also hold many special meetings and charitable events, which vary according to the traditions of each Valley, the five different Iowa Scottish Rite divisions. These include golf tournaments, holiday parties and volunteer days.

Under the direction of the Five Valleys of Scottish Rite in Iowa, the Iowa Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation annually donates over $100,000 to support public education, youth organizations and childhood language programs. This website includes summaries of our work on behalf of Iowa's youth.

Grand Commander’s Visit

The Fall 2006 Reunion marked the 100th anniversary of Letters of Temporary which created the Valley of Sioux City. In honor of this occasion, Grand Commander Ronald Seale, 33° delivered the keynote address on Saturday, October 28th. This is a huge honor for all Iowa Scottish Rite Masons to have the Grand Commander in attendance at a Valley event.
